We wrapped up Season 1 of the Studio Series earlier this year and took a pause to reflect on how to proceed. Logic is one thing, Dee Stoppa’s reflective notes another. The direction moving forward was to produce fewer titles but with a more in-depth approach.
We went back to the list of pre-selected protagonists (Open Call) and invited them to Discovery Calls. Each conversation was rated 0-10, with one that somehow managed to score 12/10, with two exclamation marks (yes, that was Sam Gleeson). Later in the process, Sam shared with Dee a draft of his book (raw, diary-style entries from the time he was at his lowest), and we have been obsessed with sharing his story and amplifying his voice ever since.
